SyncToy is a free PowerToy designed by Microsoft, that provides an easy to use graphical user interface that can automatically synchronize local or network files and folders, but not WebDAV-, "Windows Mobile" files or folders and no triangle-sync as only Allway Sync, Synkron, SyncLess or GoodSync can do. No VSS-support, not portable. SyncToy can manage multiple sets of folders at the same time; it can combine files from two folders in one case, and mimic renames and deletes in another case. Unlike other applications, SyncToy actually keeps track of renames to files and will make sure those changes get carried over to the synchronized folder.

DiffVue
DiffVue is a diff tool, also known as a diff utility for Windows XP and Windows 7, and it lets users compare folders and files as well as ftp site's files against the local files by displaying differences visually.
DiffVue contains 6 main applications; DiffVue (a main application to compare your local folders and files), DiffFTP (another main application for FTP), DiffEditor (a visual text editor), FullVue (a viewer for non-text files), DiffVue Search (an enhanced search utility including Regular expression search) and HexCompare ("Hex compare" utility as well as Hex editor). Screenshots for each application are available in DiffVue Software's website diffvue.com/gallery.
The unique features that DiffVue comparing to other diff utility software are,
- DiffVue recognizes and displays not only the regular text files but also the binary files such as word-processor, spread sheet, presentation documents or even graphics and CAD files.
- DiffVue offers a PDF file rendition not only from any single file but also from the existing folders and files so that its bookmark pane looks like a folder tree.
- DiffVue offers a set of localization (L10N) tools. For example, one of them is to detect any mal-formatted or missing resource strings during L10N process. The file extensions of the resource file-format recognized are RC/RC2/RESX/MC/MTX/INI/IPS.
- DiffFTP compares the users' local files and folders against ones in their FTP server by the file contents, and then transfers files like all commercial FTP software.
- HexCompare displays the contents of any two files side-by-side both in hex and ASCII strings. HexCompare is also a hex editor, so that all standard editing operations, such as, insert, overtype, cut, paste, highlighting selection, etc. can be performed.

Code Compare
Code Compare is a free file and folder merge tool from Devart. New version of Code Compare comes with significantly increased startup speed:
- Standalone application start is two times faster;
- Opening a file comparison document in Visual Studio is two times faster;
- Considerable acceleration of the first environment start after installing Code Compare.
The text comparison interface of the application has been reworked to become more self-explanatory and user-friendly. Now practically all elements of this diff and merge tool's interface have their own function.
Folder comparison has been enhanced with a range of new features.
- The speed of directory comparison has increased by 40%;
- Commands for navigation through changes have been implemented;
- Commands for multiple files selection by the type of change have been added;
- The possibility to copy the selected files to a user-defined directory has been added;
- The concepts of copying files and synchronizing directories have been split. From now on the user manages the process of changes moving in a more accurate way;
- The possibility to overwrite read-only files during copying has been added.
Code Compare integration into the Atmel Studio has been implemented. Developers of Atmel processor-based and micro-controller applications are able to use all the advantages of Code Compare integration into the development environment.
Key features:
* Two-way file comparison and merge
* Folder comparison and merge
* Integration into Visual Studio 2010, and 2012
* Command line interface and VCS integration
* File editor with search and bookmarks
* Use Intellisense while comparing code
* Syntax highlighting for multiple languages
* Show changes within compared code lines

CompareMerge
CompareMerge is a Mac OSX's software tool for file comparison and merging text-like files.
It is useful for determining what has changed between versions, and then merging changes between versions.
Functions of the application:
- Compare Folders/Files: can compare both 2 files or 2 folders
- Inline Edit (Edit/Merge at the same time) : Compare and Merge 2 text files: allow you to edit/compare/merge 2 text files in the same windows
- Line Number: When edit file, showing line number will make it easier to know exactly changes positions.
- File filters: Include or exclude files that match regular expressions. Other than that, after compare 2 folders, you could filter display item base on file name.
- Include Subfolders: This option lets you control the depth of a folder comparison. Enabling it compares all folder levels
- Copy to: after compare 2 folder, you can select left or right files to copy to different location (example: when release change source)
- Delete Left/Right/Both: after compare 2 folder, you can select left or right files to delete

↧
Ediff
Ediff is a comprehensive visual interface to Unix diff and patch utilities.
Ediff provides a convenient way for simultaneous browsing through the differences between a pair (or a triple) of files or buffers (which are called ‘variants’ for our purposes). The files being compared, file-A, file-B, and file-C (if applicable) are shown in separate windows (side by side, one above the another, or in separate frames), and the differences are highlighted as you step through them. You can also copy difference regions from one buffer to another (and recover old differences if you change your mind).
Another powerful feature is the ability to merge a pair of files into a third buffer. Merging with an ancestor file is also supported. Furthermore, Ediff is equipped with directory-level capabilities that allow the user to conveniently launch browsing or merging sessions on groups of files in two (or three) different directories.
In addition, Ediff can apply a patch to a file and then let you step through both files, the patched and the original one, simultaneously, difference-by-difference. You can even apply a patch right out of a mail buffer, i.e., patches received by mail don't even have to be saved. Since Ediff lets you copy differences between variants, you can, in effect, apply patches selectively (i.e., you can copy a difference region from file.orig to file, thereby undoing any particular patch that you don't like).
Ediff even understands multi-file patches and can apply them interactively! (Ediff can recognize multi-file patches only if they are in the context format or GNU unified format. All other patches are treated as 1-file patches. Ediff is [hopefully] using the same algorithm as patch to determine which files need to be patched.)
Ediff is aware of version control, which lets you compare files with their older versions. Ediff also works with remote and compressed files, automatically ftp'ing them over and uncompressing them.
